The UK construction industry is currently facing two major challenges, firstly Building Regulations are tightening, requiring more energy-efficient buildings, and targeting zero carbon new homes.

Whilst many conventional buildings designed and built in the past few years are demonstrating a performance gap (poor performance compared to predictions) in terms of energy use, ventilation and thermal comfort. To solve these problems Styrene Packaging & Insulation Ltd (SPI) have launched a new product - Stylite Passivehaus Foundation Insulation which is a quick and highly effective modular system for building Passivehaus standard foundations to achieve u-values as low as 0.10W/m2K.

Manufactured from high performance Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), the system eliminates the critical cold bridging between the ground and the building, resulting in a much more thermally efficient build.

Delivered to site in modular units consisting of “L” shaped perimeter pieces and flat sheets, installation is incredibly quick and easy. Once in position the amount of concrete required is vastly reduced by up to 60% compared to traditional foundation methods. A choice of EPS grades are available to suit your project thermal and compressive requirements.
